Kampala’s much-loved R&B night, Strictly Soul, makes its highly anticipated return tonight, October 8, at Mestil Hotel in Nsambya, promising music lovers a smooth start to Uganda’s Independence celebrations.
Often described as one of the city’s most immersive R&B and Soul experiences, Strictly Soul has built a loyal following for its nostalgic yet contemporary playlists and signature laid-back vibe. Previous editions have sold out ahead of time, drawing Kampala’s stylish nightlife crowd eager for a blend of old-school classics and new-school hits.
This Independence Eve edition is expected to be the biggest yet. Organizers say guests can look forward to an elevated experience, with top-tier production and signature soul-inspired energy.
“Strictly Soul has superseded party status — it’s a celebration of music, friends, and bold flavour,” said Christine Kyokunda, Brand Manager for Johnnie Walker Uganda, the event’s lead partner.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Camelot Concepts to bring back the most immersive R&B and Soul music night. This edition is even more special because it’s happening on the eve of Independence Day. Expect a night that’s as smooth and unforgettable as Johnnie Walker itself.”
The night’s soundtrack will be curated by DJ Akio, known for his genre-blending sets that seamlessly flow from timeless R&B favourites by Usher, Mary J. Blige, and Boyz II Men to modern Afrobeats-infused soul hits dominating today’s charts.
With its fusion of sound, style, and spirit, Strictly Soul’s return adds a vibrant note to the Independence holiday calendar — offering Kampala’s revellers an early start to the celebrations with music that spans generations.
