Gulu’s Layibi Street was the place to be on Friday evening as fans, traders, and revelers gathered for a thrilling night headlined by Northern Uganda’s very own star, Eezzy.
The market transformed into a mini-concert ground as the Tumbiza Sound hitmaker took to the stage, delivering an electrifying performance that had the crowd dancing, cheering, and singing along.
It was a true northern turn-up. Market vendors closed shop early, boda riders parked aside, and locals flocked to the heart of Layibi to catch a glimpse of Eezzy, who brought unrelenting energy and charisma to the stage. His live set featured fan favorites like Tumbiza Sound, Mega, Apat Manok, and Zubeda — turning an ordinary Friday evening into a street party to remember.
The celebration was part of Premier Distilleries Limited’s (PDL) ongoing Bikole Masavu campaign — a nationwide promotion marking 25 years of the company’s presence in Uganda. The campaign continues for another month, promising even more prizes and entertainment across the country.
As music filled the air and Eezzy kept the vibe alive, several lucky Gulu residents walked away with exciting rewards, including a brand-new tuk-tuk, motorbike, smartphone, and television.
Among the winners was Simon Lokodo, a driver who beamed with joy after receiving keys to his brand-new tuk-tuk. “This is a dream come true — it will help me earn more for my family,” he said.
Parisha Mahesh, PDL’s representative in Gulu, said the campaign is about giving back to loyal consumers. “For 25 years, our customers have been our backbone. This celebration is our way of showing appreciation and giving them even more reasons to celebrate,” he noted.
The giveaway also saw Emmanuel Odonpiny, a security guard in Gulu Town, ride away with a new boda-boda, while Oyume Abim Godfrey couldn’t hide his excitement after receiving a brand-new TV. Each announcement was met with cheers, ululations, and applause from the enthusiastic crowd.
With over 400,000 participants and 100,000 prizes worth more than Shs 200 million already given out nationwide, Bikole Masavu has become a household name.
Friday’s Layibi Market celebration proved that it’s not just about the prizes — it’s about community, joy, and shared moments that remind everyone why celebrations like these matter.
