The Alur Cultural Festival is set to return this year as it celebrates a decade of preserving and promoting Northern Uganda’s rich Alur heritage. The milestone 10th edition will take place on December 7, 2025, at the Millennium Grounds, marking ten years since the festival began its inspiring journey of cultural revival.
Over the years, the festival has evolved into one of the most anticipated cultural events in Northern Uganda a space where art, dance, music, and storytelling come together to celebrate identity and unity.
This year’s theme, “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Alur Heritage,” highlights the community’s strength in embracing its traditions while connecting with others across Uganda and beyond.
“This year, we are proud to announce the launch of the Alur Cultural Dance Ensemble, a dedicated group of performers who will carry the heartbeat of our traditions both locally and internationally,” said Francis O. Denis, speaking on behalf of the organizing team. “It is a historic step toward strengthening cultural education and youth participation.”
From traditional music and dance to cultural foods, crafts, storytelling, and indigenous knowledge, the Alur Cultural Festival continues to shine as a platform for expression and preservation where the past is honored, the present celebrated, and the future inspired.
As the countdown to December begins, excitement is already building for what promises to be a colorful, unifying celebration of Alur pride and cultural resilience.
