Banana Resort Beach in Nyenga, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, is set to come alive this weekend with the Banana Tourism Festival, a two-day celebration of culture, leisure, and entertainment on the shores of Lake Victoria.

The festival, happening Saturday and Sunday, promises a unique blend of vibrant African traditions, thrilling water activities, and live performances, offering revellers an immersive experience of Uganda’s beauty and heritage.

According to resort manager Mr Denis Ngabirano, attendees will enjoy scenic boat cruises across Lake Victoria, organized in timed sessions with full safety measures including life jackets and monitoring by professional divers and police marine units. Swimming in designated areas will also be supervised to ensure a secure family-friendly environment.

To bolster security, organizers have partnered with Police from the Ssezibwa Region to cover the two-day event. However, when contacted, regional police spokesperson Ms Hellen Butoto said she had not yet received official details about the festival.

Beyond the water adventures, Banana Resort Beach has been transformed into a cultural village showcasing the richness of African traditions. Visitors can explore stalls featuring colorful kitenge and kente fabrics, handcrafted jewelry, and traditional attire.

“We want to give both local and international tourists a true taste of Africa right here on the shores of Lake Victoria,” one of the event organizers explained. “From fashion and food to music and boat rides, it’s a complete package for culture, fun, and relaxation.”

The lineup also includes live performances from Ugandan musicians and cultural troupes, whose energetic showcases of music and dance will highlight the rhythms and heritage of Uganda and beyond.

With its scenic lakeside backdrop, diverse cultural exhibitions, and exciting activities, the Banana Tourism Festival is set to be an unforgettable weekend for both adventure seekers and culture enthusiasts.
