L-R: Bebe Cool’s daughter Beata Ssali, Zuena Kirema and Bobi Wine’s daughter Shalom Namagembe Kyagulanyi.
When Bebe Cool’s daughter Beata Ssali and Bobi Wine’s daughter Shalom shared stunning prom photos last week, social media was quick to turn a moment of celebration into a competition. Cropped side-by-side images of the two girls in sleek dresses and full makeup began circulating online, sparking comparisons that have since drawn criticism—not least from Zuena Kirema, Bebe Cool’s wife.
Zuena has spoken out strongly against what she calls “immature behavior” by social media users and websites that pit the teenagers against each other.
“It’s so sad how foreigners see Ugandans as welcoming and good people, but we are tearing each other apart from within,” she posted on her social platforms. “Who told Ugandans that every post one makes is about competition? Today I stand to stop this nonsense of comparing young children. Stop creating unnecessary drama. These two young girls are good friends.”
Zuena’s heartfelt message was not just a defense of her daughter, but a broader plea for online users to show more kindness—especially when it comes to youth.
She also had a message of encouragement for both girls: “To my lovely daughters Beata and Shalom, you are beautiful and truly loved. Heads high as you keep chasing your goals.”
Her comments echo sentiments recently shared by Bebe Cool, who during an interview affirmed that Beata and Shalom are very close.
“The lines are drawn between two men, but not family,” he said, referring to his longstanding rivalry with Bobi Wine. “Eddy Yawe is one of the people who advise me on music. Him and Moses Matovu—when you have them at the back of your career, you have some sense.”
While politics and past rivalries have defined public perceptions of the Bobi-Bebe relationship, their children’s bond—and their parents’ efforts to shield them from online toxicity—tell a different story: one of mutual respect, friendship, and the need to rise above the noise.
