Timed in the lead-up to World Tequila Day, Cantina Fiesta will be a full sensory celebration where guests will enjoy a feel of authentic Mexican culture.
Uganda’s nightlife got a fiery taste of Mexico during the pre-launch of the Cantina Fiesta last Thursday evening at Thrones, Bugolobi. The event gave guests a preview of what to expect at the main celebration happening on July 26 at Ndere Cultural Centre. The event will be headlined by Nigerian star Lojay, best known for his global hit Monalisa, as well as Sensational, a collaborations with Chris Brown and Davido, among others. Lojay will share the stage with Rwanda’s Kivumbi King, who continues to blaze a trail across East Africa with his emotionally rich sound as well as A Pass who was also present at the pre-launch. Together, they will bring a genre-fusing lineup of Afrobeats, Soul, and rhythm, to set the pace for the first ever Cantina Fiesta.
A Pass shared his excitement about sharing the stage with Lojay and Kivumbi. He promised an electrifying performance and emphasised his gratitude for the fans’ continuous support. Guests participated in a quiz game featuring trivia about Mexico, including its culture, food, music, and tequila origins. They also enjoyed a blend of cultural and festive elements and were served food the Mexican way, including tacos and burritos. Other engaging activities included mini-golf and photo moments with big straw hats.
“Cantina Fiesta is going to be a full sensory celebration. Guests will enjoy a spread of authentic Mexican street food such as tacos and quesadillas, tequila tastings, and signature Don Julio cocktails throughout the day,” said Eric Okot, Head of BTL, Lumin8 the organisers of the event. This is aimed to be a journey that will take Ugandan party lovers on their very first flight to Mexico, while grounded in the heart of Kampala and they have a taste of the Mexican culture as they pay homage to World Tequila Day.
