Big Size himself, Bebe Cool, recently reminded us that there are levels to this Ugandan life. In an interview that shook both our pockets and calculators, Bebe casually claimed he spends not less than Shs3m a day. That’s right. Per. Day. By his math, that is Shs14m a week. Let that sink in.
According to Bebe Cool: 3 x 7 = 14. Algebra by Kenzo. He broke it down for us poor souls: four cars leave his home every morning, fueled on his card. He gyms with six people – on him. Food? On him. Shopping? On him. Supermarket runs? Shs2m a week. Market shopping? Shs600,000. Even his drivers allegedly get accidents daily because that is a line item in his budget.
Damn drivers, where do they drive? Honestly, how do you get an accident every day unless you are training for the National Crash Olympics? And then came the $700,000 album production bill for Break The Chains. Seven hundred thousand U.S. dollars. That is over Shs2.5b. We love the hustle, but is this an album or a down payment on a satellite? We honestly love the album, what has he been doing all this while since Fire Anthem and Love You Everyday. Anyway, better late than never! Of course, we get it showbiz is showbiz, and Big Size must live up to the name.
But surely, even in entertainment, the math must math. Regardless of how poor we may be, Ugandans will hate, yes but at least our math will be corrected. Let the man enjoy his money he has earned it. Or at least, he is very confident in how he spends it. As for us, we shall continue to calculate carefully at the pump.
