Tanzanian music stars Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu have finally confirmed their romantic relationship with a private Nikkah ceremony that took place quietly over the weekend, ending months of speculation surrounding their bond.
The news broke when Diamond Platnumz, real name Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack, posted a series of photos and a short video clip on Instagram, sparking immediate buzz online. The visuals showed the couple dressed in elegant Islamic attire, with Zuchu’s face veiled in traditional style, a tell-tale sign for many fans who suspected a wedding had just taken place.
While Diamond’s cryptic caption left some fans guessing, “I know each of you has a completely different image of Diamond Platnumz and marriage, but today I just want to tell you that this Diamond Platnumz has been married before, and one day I’ll tell you how it happened”, confirmation wasn’t far behind.
In a follow-up video, the couple is seen beaming in a car, shortly after the ceremony. Zuchu, visibly glowing, declares, “Mume wangu. We are married,” with Diamond chuckling beside her. The moment left little room for doubt.
Adding weight to the confirmation, Diamond’s mother, Mama Dangote, took to her own Instagram to share her joy, writing, “Alhamdulillah limepita salama. Congratulations my son Naseeb Kihwa and your wife Zuhura.”
The union came as a surprise even to family. Zuchu’s mother, legendary Taarab singer Khadija Kopa, shared in a radio interview that she was not informed beforehand and had not attended the ceremony.
“No, I wasn’t there at all. It was something none of us knew about. They kept it completely private and only informed us afterwards. They refused to have a public ceremony,” she said.
Despite the surprise, Khadija expressed her support for the couple’s decision to formalize their relationship in accordance with Islamic tradition. “When someone gets married, we give thanks. Alhamdulillah, because it’s not that we want our children to live in sin,” she explained. “We are grateful to God because we prefer our children to marry and live peacefully… I pray for blessings upon them, may they bear good children who will respect them.”
The ceremony follows an earlier promise by Diamond Platnumz to marry Zuchu before the start of Ramadan in 2025, a plan that did not materialize at the time. But with this discreet union, the couple has taken a significant step in cementing their bond, away from the public spotlight that has followed their every move.
While many fans would have expected a high-profile celebrity wedding, the low-key Nikkah reflects a more intimate approach from the two artists perhaps a signal that, beyond the glitz and showbiz, there are some chapters they prefer to keep for themselves.
