Rapper and singer Reachel Mirembe, popularly known as Recho Rey, has candidly opened up about her thoughts on motherhood and her transformation from a tomboy to a style icon.
In a recent interview, the “Guma Bakunyige” star revealed that she is not ready to embrace motherhood just yet. Despite being in an industry where many of her peers are starting families, Recho Rey said she has never experienced maternal instincts.
“I don’t think this is the right time, but I have never experienced maternal instincts in my life at all,” she admitted. “But I respect mothers so much. The baby fever feeling has never crossed my mind, but let’s see with time.”
Recho Rey, known for her bold lyrics and confident stage presence, also reflected on her dramatic transformation in style over the years. Once known for her signature tomboy look, she now embraces a sexier image a shift she says didn’t happen overnight.
“I am still gangster, a sexy gangster,” she joked. “It took me six years to transform from the tomboyish style to this. At first, it seemed hard but I’m now used to it.”
She credited her team for helping guide the shift in her image, saying it was a strategic decision that has paid off as she continues to grow her brand and connect with a broader audience.
As she evolves both personally and professionally, Recho Rey remains one of the most dynamic and unapologetic voices on Uganda’s music scene unafraid to redefine herself while staying true to her roots.
