Some of the last stories written about gospel singer Julie Mutesasira, now Julie Birungi was that she had gotten married to another partner.
Going by the pictures that were shared on social media then, the two looked happy together. Many people were disappointed with Mutesasira’s choice and believed she would never return to Uganda.
Many Ugandans had speculated that Julie would never return home due to the legal and social challenges, including discrimination, faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in the country.
To their disappointment, however, the information our fly has picked from the streets indicates that Julie is back in the country from Canada, where she has spent about five years.
She posted on her social media pages photos indicating she’s back to the “Pearl of Africa.”
Julie is a renowned gospel singer behind songs like Nkomyewo, Bewunya and Gwenjagala, among others. She is also the mother of East Africa’s Got Talent season one winners and Canada’s Got Talent participants Esther and Ezekiel Mutesasira.
