Lydia Jazmine is undeniably one of Uganda’s most talented female artistes. Her strong vocals and electrifying stage presence have earned her a place at the top of the music game, with her current single Kindekere being the love anthem of Kampala at the moment.
But while her music continues to soar, her fashion choices often fall flat, regularly attracting criticism on social media. It goes without saying that Lydia Jazmine is a beautiful, curvy woman with an hourglass figure that, if dressed right, could elevate her into a true style icon.
One of her most talked about looks was a sheer bodysuit she wore during a performance, embellished with rhinestones and paired with high boots. While bold, the outfit lacked structure and balance, which led to social media backlash. To restyle this, I would recommend keeping the drama but introducing sophistication: a custom-made corset jumpsuit with boning for structure, sheer paneling in strategic places, and wide-leg trousers to elongate her silhouette, topped off with a matching floor-length cape for stage glam.
Lydia loves bold, body-hugging outfits, which is great, but the trick lies in fit, fabric, and finish. Rather than stretchy materials that often cling awkwardly, I would suggest she opts for luxe fabrics such as crepe, silk jersey, and taffeta that hug the body while offering polish. For red carpet appearances, imagine her in a custom off-shoulder mermaid gown with ruching around the waist to accentuate her curves and a thigh-high slit for just the right dose of sexy.
For casual and media appearances, I would love to see her in structured sets; think high-waisted wide-leg pants paired with cropped blazers or fitted tops with bold shoulders. These styles flatter her shape while making her look powerful and fashion-forward. Her street style could be elevated with monochrome looks, statement accessories, and well-fitted denim with bodysuits that blend sultry and chic.
With the right team, tailored wardrobe, and understanding of her body type, she could turn every appearance on and off stage into a fashion moment. And while we are at it, I would highly suggest resting the gloves for a while. These have been a constant with a lot of her looks, and I think with the style rebrand, the gloves will need to be hang up!
