Comedian Patrick Salvador Idringi has paid tribute to veteran events producer Steve Jean, crediting him for a pivotal role in launching his comedy career.
As he marks 15 years in the industry, Salvador recounted how Jean, also the founder of Fenon Events, backed his debut comedy show, Africa Laughs, in 2013 — even when there was no money involved.
“I took a leap of faith to start my own shows after being inspired and challenged by a Nigerian promoter,” Salvador posted on social media. “I already had the comedians, I had made friends with many influential people, but one man who believed in me was my brother Steve Jean.”
According to Salvador, Jean personally financed the first edition of Africa Laughs without demanding anything in return.
“I paid him back two years later without any pressure. My journey to 15 years in the industry will always be tied to Steve Jean and Fenon Entertainment,” he said.
Salvador is expected to headline a celebratory show later this year.
