‘Frame The Beat’, an initiative to inspire creatives

 

Marvin Musoke, Aaronaire On Set, Edrine Paul, and Simon SPK are all renowned for their incredible work in Uganda’s music video industry and now together they have launched the ‘Frame The Beat’ music video workshop aimed at grooming aspiring creatives in the field of music video production.

This game-changing initiative was born to create an opportunity for the next generation of filmmakers.

The initiative happening from February 17 to 21 at Cams and Grip Film Studios, Busabala, will see participants gain hands-on experience and working on an actual video for the B2C trio.

“After seeing that there was a demand as people kept calling and inboxing us about video production and how they could navigate this, the four of us decided to come together and make a four-day masterclass about this,” said Marvin Musoke, a videographer at Swangz Avenue.

He added that this will be a hands-on experience where someone will be taken through the entire process of making a music video from conceptualising, shooting, editing and putting it out there and to do this, B2C will be the case study.

In addition, Aaronaire said this is not just going to be a theory class but attendees will dive deep into all aspects of creating a great music video with basics by understanding what makes music videos stand out, pre-production which includes concept development, scriptwriting, budgeting, and crew management, technical training such as camera work, lighting, sound design, and set creation, production which involves directing, working with performers, and on-set problem-solving, post-production such as editing, colour grading, effects, and finalising content for digital platforms and industry insights on how to market your work, build a portfolio, and succeed in the business, among others.

“Frame The Beat aims to offer hands-on training from industry professionals, elevate production quality with professional skills and techniques, build a network of creatives for future collaborations and making filmmaking accessible to young talent, including those from remote areas,” Aaronaire added.

With more than five years of combined experience and more than 100 music videos that have amassed more than 5 million views, these directors have been instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Uganda’s music industry.
