In a dazzling display of beauty, culture, and intellect, Lucky Atino Bianka from northern Uganda was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda 2024/25 in a grand event that took place last Saturday at Kampala Serena Hotel’s Victoria Hall. The annual beauty pageant, aimed at promoting Uganda as a top tourism destination, brought together 29 contestants from various regions of the country, all vying for the prestigious title.

The event, hosted by Comedian and MC Patrick Salvado Idringi, was nothing short of spectacular. The evening kicked off with an electric feel as contestants made a grand entrance, each donning outfits inspired by the Ugandan flag. The blend of modern and traditional elements in their attire was a celebration of the nation’s rich culture and heritage, drawing applause from the audience.

The first segment of the competition tested the contestants’ poise and ability to advocate for “Tourism and Peace”, a key theme of the night. As each contestant took to the stage to answer questions from the judges, the stakes were raised, with 19 participants eliminated, leaving the top 10 to continue in the race for the crown.

The remaining contestants faced a more rigorous round of questions, all centered on their knowledge of Uganda’s tourism sector. From promoting eco-tourism to protecting the country’s wildlife, the contestants shared insightful ideas, further narrowing the competition to the top five.

The final round featured the top three contenders: Lucky Atino Bianka from northern Uganda, Victoria Ndamurani from Bunyoro, and Racheal Akidi from Karamoja.

In a nail-biting moment, each finalist was tasked with promoting Uganda as a prime tourism destination within a 60-second pitch. Atino’s confident and articulate delivery, highlighting Uganda’s diverse landscapes, unique wildlife, and cultural richness, left the judges and audience in awe, ultimately securing her the crown.

Victoria Ndamurani from Bunyoro emerged First runner-up, and Racheal Akidi from Karamoja took Second runner-up.

As the new Miss Tourism Uganda, Atino will embark on a year-long journey promoting Uganda’s tourism industry both locally and internationally. Her win comes with exciting prizes, including a Toyota Wish car courtesy of Darling Uganda, the official sponsors of Miss Tourism Uganda.

The event marked yet another milestone in Uganda’s efforts to boost its tourism industry, as contestants showcased not just beauty but a deep understanding of the country’s tourism potential. With Atino at the helm, Uganda’s tourism sector is poised to receive increased global attention as she carries the flag high, representing Uganda as a premier tourism destination.
