Nicholas Katushabe, also known as M’ster Quest, has been named Founder of the Year at the prestigious FOYA awards

Ugandan business and investment consultant, Nicholas Katushabe, also known as M’ster Quest, has been named Founder of the Year at the prestigious FOYA awards held last Friday in Nairobi, Kenya.

Competing against 14 other nominees from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, Katushabe credits the improvement in his company’s consultancy work, with a focus on Small and Medium Enterprises, for his victory.

“I’m overjoyed with this award because it reminds me that whatever we do, the world is listening and aware. This award also propels us to work harder to impact the world,” said Katushabe upon receiving his award.

Katushabe, who is also the proprietor of NBK Premier Solutions, a Ugandan-based consultancy firm, was in the same category as fellow Ugandan Catherine Kabarangira, who came in second, and Kenya’s Trizah Kainika, who placed third.

The process, which began in January, was determined by 60% public votes and 40% by a panel of judges.

The FOYA awards, held at Simba Corp Aspire Centre in Westlands, Nairobi, were founded in 2016 to recognize and appreciate young founders contributing to the development of the African continent by creating sustainable jobs through entrepreneurship and inspiring others to start their own businesses.

To be considered for Founder of the Year, a nominee’s company must demonstrate excellence, innovation, and impact in the region.

“We have built this over the years, working with clients and partners from Kenya. With the number of businesses and people we have impacted, and changing mindsets about investment decisions, I believe we deserved to win the ultimate category at the FOYA awards,” Katushabe added.

Winners of the FOYA awards join a network of founders across Africa.

The FOYA Awards, an annual ceremony launched in November 2016, aim to retain, reward, and recognize high-quality SMEs.
