I won’t give up on my T-shirts – Balaam after landing ministerial post

Balaam Barugahara

Events promoter and Radio 4 proprietor Balaam Barugahara was appointed as the State Minister for Gender, Labour, and social development in charge of youth during the recent cabinet reshuffle by President Museveni.

His appointment came as a surprise to the public but the promoter is up for the challenge regardless. His only challenge however is the dress code.

Balaam has for a very long time been identified with his orange-striped t-shirt. It has become his trademark to the extent that some people think it is the same t-shirt he always wears.

With this appointment, Balaam is supposed to at least wear suits, shirts with ties, and long trousers with jackets or traditional attire such as a kanzu with a jacket or a safari suit.

Despite the expectations, he has also insisted that he is not going to give up his attire nevertheless.

“Everything is going to remain the same apart from the clothes. My hands have been tied up. I can no longer wear my famous T-shirt but I will still wear it in the car. Or I will wear it as a vest because no law forbids me to wear it as a vest. It hurts me but I promise to wear it when I am out of the office. When I am going to Bunyoro, I will wear a t-shirt,” he said during one of his interviews.
