Miss Uganda’s adventure at Miss World begins

Reigning Miss Uganda Hannah Karema Tumukunde is already in New Delhi India to represent Uganda at the 71st Miss World Festival.

Hannah Karema who was flagged off on Friday 16 February at Sheraton Hotel has already joined other contestants who will be representing their respective Countries in the International beauty pageant.

Since Friday last week, nearly 120 Beauty With a Purpose ambassadors from across the globe have been landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, to be part of an extraordinary and unique journey. This will be the second time for the Miss World festival to happen in India after the country as the international beauty pageant is making a return to the country after nearly three decades.

The candidates are currently residing at Ashok Hotel where they have already started interacting and participating in different activities. Together with the Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley, Miss World participants have so far visited the Raj Ghat, also known as the Gandhi Memorial, where they paid respect to Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi is most famous for his philosophy of nonviolence that has inspired civil rights leaders around the world. The candidates also visited the Gandhi museum.

There will be an opening ceremony scheduled to happen at The Ashok Hotel on Tuesday, February 20.The event will be live-streamed on www.missworld.com

The 71st Miss World will be crowned on 9 March at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Singer Shantanu Mukherji commonly known as Shaan one of India’s biggest stars will perform during the Miss World’s final event, alongside this year’s 120 participants.
