Bobi Wine calls upon every voice to advocate for Beenie Gunter’s safe return

Despite being a full-time politician, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine still loves art. The politician-cum-singer has come out to demand for the safe return of fellow artiste Beenie Gunter who was arrested a few days ago in Abu Dhabi.

According to Bobi Wine, he just learnt of the detention of Beenie Gunter and has called upon everyone to join voices to demand his safe return home.

“I have also learnt of the detention of musician #BeenieGunter in Abu Dhabi where he apparently had a performance on the weekend. Several artistes from Uganda and Africa have been unfairly detained in the UAE many times in the past. It’s important we join voices to demand that due process is served so that this brother can safely return home,” Bobi Wine posted on X.

Meanwhile Beenie Gunter’s baby mama Nickie Berry said that they are still reaching out to the concerned embassy in regards to Beenie Gunter’s situation.

“Beenie was arrested yesterday at Dubai airport when we were returning. He was called as I stayed somewhere waiting for him but moments later he called me and said they had arrested him and told me to go. But I have learnt he is going to be transferred to Abu Dhabi and the case that he is being charged with is fighting but I haven’t yet heard from him since then as his phone is off. We are trying to contact the embassies,” she said.

His fellow artiste Sheebah Karungi has also come out to demand the release of the artiste.

“I can’t imagine being imprisoned in a foreign country! It must be devastating. To the concerned parties, I know you can come to an understanding without prison. FREE Beenie Gunter,” she posted.

“#FreeBeenieGunter such an innocent soul, free My G.” Crysto Panda put on X.

Ykee Benda also posted asking the government to look into the matter. “My brother can’t imagine what’s going through your mind in a foreign land…You my prayers ????. With that said, government please let’s look into this matter with urgency and help sort this matter, Beenie is a father, son, brother and friend and also an asset to this nation, let us step up and get our brother home soon,” he posted.

The list of artistes demanding Beenie Gunter’s release is endless.
