Easy Liker of the ‘Osisikire’ hit fame

Easy Liker

PASSION-DRIVEN: Only one year in the industry, Easy Liker is already making moves and hits. sQoop caught up with him about his music career.

Who is Easy Liker?

My real name is Julius Ajuna born in Rubare Ntungamo. I joined the music industry about a year ago.

What inspired the name Easy Liker?

The name was inspired by the struggles I went through in life.

What kind of music do you do?

I do Rn’b and dancehall.

What are some of your songs?

So far I have two; Tukore and Osisikire but Osisikire has gained the most airplay in the region. People love it and the message in it. Osisikire literally means ‘you have become spoilt’.

What inspired you to join music?

Talent. I have always known I am talented but for long I did not have the capacity to record my own music.

Do you belong to any music management?

I am signed under Super Promotions Music Management headed by Dm Swag.

Who was your role model or what song inspired your love for music?

I was inspired by many, for instance I grew up listening to Bebe Cool and Chameleone’s music, later Eddy Kenzo came and I liked his style too. In western Iganda I saw Ray G elevating to greatness.

What is your goal in the industry?

I would love to be at the level of Diamond Platnumz, Eddy Kenzo and Rick Ross. I would feel proud once Runyankole music hits international airwaves.

How ready are you to use music to change your society

Once all goes well, I dream of forming a music label well equipped to help young talents who face challenges raising money to record music.

What has been your experience in the music industry so far?

Starting with the good, I have become famous, made new friends and started making money for myself,.

On the flip side, I feel bad when I am in places where people do not recognise me, meet a DJ and have to first introduce myself or lack enough money to record quality work.

How do you plan to handle these challenges?

One cannot be successful without suffering. I embrace the struggles I face but I am praying and working hard to pave away for the next generation.

What is the biggest platform you have showcased your work?

I have performed at NBS’ pop party at University Inn Mbarara , performed at Fik Fameica’s Mbarara show, Beenie Gunter’s show, and Ebinyanya show here in Mbarara.

What is that one unforgettable moment you have had on stage?

I will never forget the day I had prepared myself to perform at a certain event but I was bounced by the organiser that I was an upcoming artiste. I was hurt.

What should Ankole artistes do to make their music cross borders?

I think it is the locals who should first support their own talents then the standard of music here will improve. Let us give time and love to our own talents and content.

Do you have a girlfriend?

I have so many, I cannot tell you who is number one or last.

Apart from music, what else do you do?

I am a businessman dealing in food supplements.

Where do you see yourself in the near future?

I see myself being a big deal with great projects, because when I see where I started and where I am now, I feel and see where I am going,

How do you spend your free time?

Travelling to places I have never been.
