Tourism beauty queens clean the city ahead to commemorate World Environmental Day

On Sunday morning, the Miss Tourism Uganda team converged at the Independence Monument in Kampala. The meeting was to embark on a campaign ‘Let the Pearl Shine‘, owned by Miss Tourism Uganda.

According to Mr Ivan Lugya, the National Coordinator of Miss Tourism, the initiative was launched a few years ago to clean different tourism destinations in Uganda. “During our several visits to the tourism sites, we found them littered and to rectify the mess, we kicked off the campaign to tidy up the sites,” Lugya said. He also said that after some time, they realized that the city center needed more attention. That’s how the campaign shifted to cleaning the city centre.
