After two failed attempts, singer Pius Mayanja was all smiles Friday evening as he had a successful concert at Cricket Oval courtesy of events promoter Balaam Barugahara.

Pallaso’s first attempt was at Freedom City before he went to Kyadondo rugby grounds and on both occasions, the turn-up was low but at cricket oval, a much bigger venue and with another concert on the same day at Freedom City, some people including himself expected less but they were in for a surprise.

People had started lining up by 3pm and by 9pm, the lines were still long with many filling the ordinary section mostly. The VIP and VVIP sections were not filled but the numbers were not bad.

The stage, sound and lighting were a combination of Balaam and Silk events while emcees Kats, Isaac and Nimrod took on the mantle of acting as fillers every after a performance. They on several occasions mocked those who went to Freedom City, comparing both experiences.

Opa Fambo, Melody, Hanson Baliruno, Martha Mukisa, Jowi Landa, Victor Ruz, Mickie Wine and Dax Vybz, Ziza Bafana, Weasel, Ragga Dee and Eddy Kenzo are some of the artistes who performed for Pallaso during the evening.

At 10pm, the stage lights were blacked out as the band first played both the National and Buganda anthems. Pallaso emerged to the stage with a choir of not less than 15 people all clad in white. After a fireworks display, he started off Ndikuwaaki and then did Juliana’s Kanyimbe before doing a marathon of his songs like Kilila, Mundongo, and Lickle Wine with Nigeria’s Ketchup in his first session.

After a break, he returned in a different outfit and did among other songs; Twapowa, Mama, Akomelerwe and Ekiro Munzikiza.

Pallaso saved his latest hits including Ani Oyo, Mpa Love, Baleke Abo and Nalonda Nemala for the last session.

The concert went on until 1am and the go-ahead was given to them by the President according to Balaam.
