Yura Kim
Painter and artist Yura Kim who graduated from International School of Uganda made headlines after her works were selected and exhibited by BBC and palace curators at the concert commemorating the coronation of King Charles III. Her works explore the connection between human culture and nature through birds and their histories.
She offers multiple perspectives in her art, depicting human desires, cultures and relationships with the natural environment. She draws the realm of new concepts and the link between human culture, nature, and shows various ways of mediating mutual culture.
Yura Kim’s works have been presented through various exhibitions including Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee exhibition at Kensington Council in July 2022 and her work on display at Tate Modern Late in March 2023 are among them. She has also won awards in the British Queen Elizabeth 70th Anniversary Art Exhibition and a prize in the East African Art Exhibition.
