Journalist Olivia Komugisha has announced her departure from Nation Media Group’s television station, NTV Uganda. On Monday evening, she announced via Twitter that May 29, 2023, would be her last day at the Serena-based station.

“Today 29th May is my last day @ntvuganda after 5 amazing years. I have grown. I have thrived. Here’s a confident version of myself that came into the newsroom timid. I will always be grateful to everyone at NMG for teaching me and holding my hand through out this journey,” she posted.

As a way of saying farewell and appreciating their employee’s work, NTV Uganda also tweeted;

“Today, we say goodbye to our news reporter, @KomugishaOlivia. It has been a pleasure working with you, and your exceptional contributions to NTV Uganda’s broadcasting are truly commendable. Your dedication to researching impactful stories for the community has made a significant impact. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Olivia. Nation Media takes pride in you.”

Komugisha joined NTV Uganda in December 2018 juggling hours of the day between the lecture room and the newsroom.

“The hours i put in were worth it for all i desired was to contribute to this noble profession,” she said in a note attached to her tweet.

“The last five years have been a journey of growth for me. On some days I was thrilled while on others I took risks and put my life on the line. I have made mistakes but for every mistake I made, I learned a life time lesson,” she further explained.

Olivia Komugisha joins former journalists Frank Walusimbi, Herbet Zziwa, and John Cliff Wamala. These journalists left the station in the past couple of months to join different organisations as Communications and Public Relations officers. Her next endeavors are not yet known.

The journalist is a former student at Makerere University with a degree in Journalism and Communication. He is an alumni of The Media Challenge Initiative.
