The Presleys buy a house at a suspiciously low price and move in. Unbeknownst to them, the last occupants left the house in terror a year ago. Soon we learn why when Kevin (Winston) hears a noise in the attic and goes to to check it out. We all know that you do not check out a noise in the attic by yourself. It never ends well. In Kevin’s case, his search puts him face to face with a ghost. The ghost tries to scare him but Kevin reacts by laughing, and starting a conversation with the ghost. Turns out that the ghost cannot talk so Kevin names him, Ernest, which is the name on the ghost’s shirt. Soon news about Ernest’s existence breaks out in a series of events. The world is convinced that Ernest is dangerous. Kevin and his neighbour, Joy (Russo), on the other hand, believe that Ernest is just lost and needs their help. That is We Have A Ghost in a nutshell.

I do not know if it is because Netflix originals have lowered our expectations of what to expect from the streaming service but We Have A Ghost was a decent movie. It definitely benefits from having familiar faces in the cast for one. Seeing Anthony Mackie (Marvel Comics’ Winter Soldier), David Harbour (Stranger Things), Jennifer Coolidge (2 Broke Girls) on the cast list piqued my interest for one.

Although Harbour, who plays Ernest, our resident ghost, has more screen time, the rest of the common faces are not too shabby either. The plot is simple and to the point, making up the so-so bits that may make you wonder why the movie is longer than 90 minutes. However, it keeps you interested enough in Ernest’s fate to keep watching..
