Feminist movement only for lesbians- Cindy

Ugandan dancehall artiste, Cindy on Friday left social media rattled after she insinuated that feminist movement activists in the country are lesbians.
“Since the other day I was wondering what to tell women (specifically) for women’s day so after a lot of thought this is my message to women. Unless you’re lesbian, don’t join the feminist movement, you will end up sad, alone and lonely. No joke,” the Local man singer, real name Cinderella Sanyu said on Facebook, stirring debate among her followers and other social media users.

Moments after her post, former Miss Uganda Sylvia Namutebi Alybhai was among the first social media users to rebuke the 37-year-old ‘King herself.’
Namutebi said she was disappointed with Cindy given that she is a woman in leadership and arguably supposed to look out for all women in her industry, including those with different views.

Cindy is the current Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president.
“BTW you are able to be free to be married, dress the way you wish, twerk, work at night in the entertainment business as a woman because of the defiance of the hot head feminist that come before you to break all stereotypes against women. If it wasn’t for the feminist movement, women doing what you do would be outcast and called ‘Hos’. As women, we are able to be expressive in the entertainment industry today and continue to break barriers because of the feminist movement. So this statement is ignorant and you being a simple and a pick me,” Namutebi posted.
