Only a few people perhaps know South African dancer and singer Mzwakhe Mbuli, commonly known as Robot Boii and it was these few that came through at Sheraton Hotel Gardens last Wednesday to witness his first performance in Uganda.
Clad in black and his signature bucket hat, Robot Boii, whose name was inspired by the robotics character Chad Smith (Mad Chad), took to the stage a few minutes past 11pm. He got the crowd in a frenzy when he introduced himself with the popular phrase “Roboto Roboto” in his Salary Salary song.
His brief but energetic performance was supplemented by the crowd who knew each song word for word. They pulled several dance strokes to his Oksalayo and Salary Salary which somewhat surprised him.
He also did other songs, including Ufunami, Uxolo and Gubezela among others.

Joined by DJ Lindash, the versatile Robot Boii proficiently pulled off his show at the Smirnoff Fiesta with dance moves that only Amapiano lovers could relate to, making his performance worth every minute. The scenes at Sheraton looked like it was a dance competition.
The debut fiesta also featured music mixes from Kampala’s DJ Vanss, Thee Ugandan Babe, DJ Etania, who got the crowd, especially the males excited every time she left the decks to pull off a few dance strokes on several jams.
The night also had Melodic Inversions and DJ Mark, hosted by Sammy Wetala and Zam Zion.
It was DJ Kash Pro whose set was a bit different from the rest. Being the week that legendary artiste Mowzey Radio passed on, he started off his session with The Whistle song, which got everyone in the audience singing along, especially on Radio’s verse before mixing it up with Hip Hop, Afrobeat and other Ugandan jams.
The fiesta delivered massive vibes at the red-themed experience as revellers were absorbed in the photo booths spread around the venue, fun games and different cocktails.
