Crowd control was not part of my responsibility – Abitex

Events promoter Abitex is still behind bars but managed to make a statement on Urban TV.

According to Abitex, it was never his responsibility for what transpired at freedom city on New Year’s Eve. His job was to advertise performers and that is it.

“It is so unfortunate that people lost their lives but I got arrested instead. In my opinion, it should have been the owners of the place that should be where I am because my role was to advertise performers and call people to come and watch the show. I was never responsible for the fireworks display and where they were going to be sparked from,” he said while behind bars at Makindye court.

He added that he cannot find any justifiable reason why the owners of freedom city have not yet been brought in.
