The Grammy Awards earlier today released their nomination list.

People such as Adele extended their records but beyond the English songstress and other nominees, there’s something Uganda has to celebrate.

Eddy Kenzo became Uganda’s first artiste to get a nomination at the prestigious awards.

Kenzo today was part of artistes such as Arooj Aftab, Rocky Dawuni, Nomcebo Zikode, and Burna Boy among others.

Eddy Kenzo is nominated for the Best Global Music Performance, a category that the academy introduced last year after transforming it from Best World Music Album.

The category was broken into two categories Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance. The first edition of the award last year was taken by Angelique Kidjo for the album, Mother Nature, while Arooj Aftab took the award for best performance for her single Mohabbat.

Arooj actually beat WizKid, Tems, Angelique Kidjo and Burna Boy.

She is one of the nominated artistes Eddy Kenzo and Matt B have to beat.

Matthew David Benson, better known by his stage name Matt B, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer whose genres have been generally classified as R&B and Hip Hop. His album, Eden, debuted in the Top 40 on Billboard’s R&B albums chart.

Other nominees at next year’s Grammy Awards include Adele, Beyonce, Burna Boy, Kendrick Lamar and Harry Styles among others.
