Fresh Kid in trouble over ‘Mazima’ video

On Wednesday morning, Mr Charles Twiine, the head of criminal investigations at the Parliament of Uganda expressed dissatisfaction with rapper Patrick Ssenyonjo alias Fresh Kid’s management over the ‘Mazima’ music video.

Through his social media, he rallied Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) and Uganda Police to take immediate action against the younger rapper’s manager.

The call for action is provoked by Fresh Kid and the Triplets Ghetto kids’ attires in Fresh Kid’s new song ‘Mazima’. Both the rapper and the dancers are clad in a cassock and a Benedictine habit respectively. This according to Twiine is degrading to the Catholic Church.

“I have watched Music Video of Fresh Kid wearing like Bishops, with dancers putting on like Catholic Nuns, and am very disgusted with his managers. Such video should be censored with immediate effect because it undermines the sanctity of the church,” he posted.

One of his followers, Mwine Edgar argued that it is normal for creatives to dramatize their act to suit the message.

“The creatives industry has always had the run-in with moralists and the religious. I have not watched the video but depending on the message they want to deliver, creatives can dress up or dramatize their act to suit the message,”

In the ‘Mazima’ video, Fresh Kid is dressed up as a Bishop preaching his truth. The ghetto kids are dressed as nuns and brothers. There is also a congregation listening.
