Are you coming to Nyege Nyege, this you must know

The turn up of day one at the Nyege Nyege Festival was moderate until late when the party reigned Itanda falls in Jinja. However, with quite a different ambiance expected on the second day of the festival, here are a few things you need to know.

The seventh edition of the festival has been met with weather that is no different from what revellers experienced at the inaugural edition of the Festival in 2015 and subsequent ones in 2016 and 2017.

It is, however, important that anyone intending to attend the festival at Itanda falls, carry a raincoat, a jumper, an umbrella, firm shoes, or gumboots to endure the muddy terrain.

For those who are driving, the choice of your car should be a four-wheel drive to stay away from getting stuck in the mud along the 30km marram road to Itanda after Jinja. Most importantly, you can opt to park at Kalagala falls in Kangulumira which is relatively a shorter distance from Kampala, and hop onto a Safe Boda boat. These are operational 24 hours.

Unlike the former venue Nile Discovery Resort where you could easily access hotels in Jinja town, it is a long distance from Itanda to Jinja and this means that one has to use a tent, or for those with cars drive back to Jinja.

With security heavily beefed up at the venue, you are advised not to carry illegal substances and drinks. For lovers of alcohol, there are a couple of fully stocked bars serving Uganda Waragi who are the hosts among others.

Further still, you must carry a power bank due to a shortage of charging spots.
