What would you do with Shs60m? Build a house? Buy a ride or start a business? Well, according to Afrigo Band’s Joanita Kawalya, Shs60m is a good enough amount to kickstart a career. Kawalya was speaking as a judge on Talent Africa’s ongoing Pearl of Africa Star Search that has been happening for the past couple of weeks.
According to the “Jim” singer, most artistes in the industry started out with nothing and have been able to sustain their careers.
“Do you know what an artiste can do with Shs60m? A lot! So these participants are so blessed,” she told us.
She added that with such competitions, an artiste is able to get guidance on the industry through the judges based on their experience. “Besides the church and school choirs, it is with such competitions that an aspiring artiste can get the right direction in the industry. They will learn voice projection and how to relate with other people.”
