Emerging fashion designers tasked to be creative

MoTIV yesterday launched the THREADED competition which is aimed at looking to reward emerging fashion designers and promote creativity inspired by MoTIV culture and aesthetics in contemporary fashion design.

The Competition is targeting visual artists in the fields of tailoring, fashion, designers, conceptual artists, and artisans and the community Manager, Eugene Kavuma says this is one of how they are engaging the creative industry which is among the hardest hit by the Corona pandemic.

He adds that the main aim for the establishment of MoTIV is to teach and train talented artisans, makers, thinkers, and designers, but also create a platform to showcase undercapitalized brands and products.

This will provide a platform for these creatives to have their work reach closer to the target market.

The competition is looking for artists that can come up with a concept that reflects their values of Courage, Collaboration, and Creativity and it is starting this Friday, and submission of entries ends on May 21, 2020. A panel of judges constituted of Nunu Umuringa, Solomon Tazibone, and Rapheal Kasule will help steer the competition.

Aside from the award money that will be given to the winning artist, MoTIV will also provide storage space, direct access to the MoTIV accelerator, and a pathway to the MoTIV marketplace.
