In the eye of the Covid-19 crisis, social life as we know it was suspended.
Concerts, church services and bars were indefinitely closed. As the country continues opening up, the entertainment sector is still on a lockdown. Different artistes such as Bebe Cool have continued to appeal to the president to let them re-open, another group of artistes with the blessing of the Uganda Musicians Assosiation have even recorded a song to that effect.
Singer Omulangira Ssuna tried putting together a scientific concert to demonstrate to authorities that it was possible to go for concerts and still observe the Ministry of Health guidelines.
Last Saturday however, burgeoning artiste Kapa Cat real names Catherine Tumusiime started a new chapter when she put together a scientific concert.
Aptly titled Dine With Kapa Cat, the event has been heavily promoted on social media as a day time event. It was supposed to start at 2pm and end at 8pm.
That was not the case though, most people did not keep time, they only started showing up past 6pm that the show instead started at 8pm through 10pm.
But Kapa Cat took to the stage at 9pm to perform songs that introduced her to the market such as Sikyo, Kapa Ojimanyi and Sifayo among others.
Most notable was a fact that, even when she had a set up stage, she barely used it. She spent much of her performance walking through tables, bare feet.
“You will have to bear with me but I’m not used to high heels,” she said.
Kapa Cat was joined by artistes such as Geosteady and Jera who kept the audience entertained during her performance breaks.
Despite not getting the crowd she might have expected, probably because of the entry fees of Shs30,000 ordinary, Shs80,000 VIP and Shs200,000 VVIP, Kapa Cat still put on an energetic live showcase.
The few people who came through had a thrilling show. They were seen dancing and singing along to her jams while others decided to tip her with any amount of money they got.
