Movie Review: Midway

This film is based on the true story of the battle of Midway Island between the US and Japan. It is said to be an attempt to restore cinematic dignity of the historical battle. This is after the 1976 film under the same title failed to do justice to the battle account according to critics.

The Midway Islands are an unincorporated US territory about halfway between Asia and North America.

The US victory at Midway is considered by many the moment the US regained its military dignity six months after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

This surprise Japanese attack, according to time.com, led to the entry of the US into World War II, one of the 20th Century’s defining conflicts, and in turn altered the shape of global power.  History lover or not, you will enjoy this film, which features actors such as Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Mandy Moore, Rachael Perrell Fosket.
