We are truly getting into the holiday season when predictable romcoms start airing. Incidentally, this one is all about the holidays.
Sloane (Roberts) and Jackson (Bracey) don’t like the holidays because of something many adult singles are familiar with. When families get together, they start asking you about why you’re single or start match-making you with random people.
When Sloane and Jackson meet and bond over their mutual zibs, they come up with a plan that will benefit them. The plan is to be each other’s date for every holiday, without benefits so that things don’t get complicated.
It is clear where this story is leading and how it will end. Like they say so themselves in the movie, the boy and girl on the poster will end up together. They clearly like each other, the chemistry is there, they are both available yet for some reason, they decide to remain friends. So we get to see what makes them change their minds.
I have truly belaboured how cliche the movie is. So why watch it? Because why not? Roberts and Bracey are cute and entertaining. The supporting cast is not too shabby either – Chenoworth takes the cake here as the so-extra Aunt Susan.
If you’re looking for a lazy weekend watch with a cute story that is not going to throw any surprises at you, Holidate it is.
