40 different artistes to perform on Independence Day

As Uganda commemorates Independence Day this week on Friday 9, October, 2020, about 40 different artists are expected to perform online.

Since COVID-19 pandemic broke out this year, some artistes such as Kyadondo East Member of Parliament and Presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine. This follows the government and World Health Organisation (WHO) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of social distancing and regular washing of hands to curb the spread of the pandemic.

This year’s celebration will be held scientifically under the theme: ‘Uganda’s steady progress towards economic take off and self-sustaining economic growth.’ The venue will be State House Entebbe.

A statement seen by Daily Monitor Ms Judith Nabakooba, Minister of ICT and National Guidance, indicates that during the Independence Day celebrations, a group of artistes have organised an online music show on Independence Day starting at 8pm.

“The show will have up to 40 different artists presenting to us about the love, peace and unity in the country. This message of peace is crucial for us especially during this time national elections,” Ms Nabakooba said.

She called upon everyone to watch and enjoy the show.

“I call upon everyone to spare some data bundles and be able to follow this online performance under the name UG Connect for peace and love. It will also be broadcast live by different TV stations,” she added.
