Nigerian afro-dancehall superstar Patrick Nnaemmeka Okorie popularly known as Patoranking today shared his new album. The singer shared his album dubbed ‘Three’, via his own Amari Musiq imprint and US-based indie powerhouse, empire.
The album comes one year and three months after the release of ‘Wilmer’ that was dedicated to his first child. The 12-truck album which is his third marks a milestone in his personal and music career was dropped on August 28, 2020.
He features fellow countryman Flavor in the first song titled ‘Mon Bebe’ and Tiwa Savage in the seventh track ‘Matter’. While unveiling the tracklist before the release on August 28, 2020, Patoranking termed the songs he has collaborated with other artists as the hottest.
Patoranking also teams up with fast-rising Ghanaian singer King Promise in the 10th song ‘Odo Bra’ and Kenyan Boy Band Sauti Sol for the track titled ‘Whine It’.
The album is a follow up to his 2019 album Wilmer which Patoranking says focuses on the themes of love, life, and happiness.
He’s extended his influence into North America through partnerships with U.S. labels EMPIRE and VP Records and touring with hip-hop/soul icon Lauryn Hill. His tracks have generated more than 260 million views on YouTube and over 170 million streams across major DSPs.
“Abule” is the word for village or hood in the Yoruba dialect, and the track, a celebration of Patoranking’s Lagos neighborhood, Ebute Metta, and of hoods worldwide, is shaping up to be his most universal release to date. It was the most played afrobeat song on Audiomack during its first week of release, reaching 1 million plays on that platform alone in under 5 days. Some of the songs on the album include; ‘Mon Bébé’ feat Flavor, ‘Yo Body’, ‘Abule’, and ‘Black Girl Magic’ among others.
