Due to Covid-19, Miss Uganda pageant won’t be held this year, meaning Oliver Nakakande’s reign as the beauty queen has been extended for yet another year.
According to the CEO of Miss Uganda, Brenda Nanyonjo, they had no option but to push the pageant to next year because of the prevailing circumstances.
Nakakande will therefore enjoy more time at the reigns and will hopefully continue to do her work within the restrictions. It hasn’t been a smooth ride for the 25-year-old who received a lot of criticism during her reign as Miss Uganda. Not because she didn’t deserve the title but because she was taking over from Quinn Abenakyo who was a darling to so many Ugandans.
However, she now has another year to impress those who have been doubting her abilities.
Nanyonjo has also stated that next year’s edition will mark 10 years of the Miss Uganda franchise.
The development comes at a time when Miss World Organisation, through its CEO Julia Morley had also announced that they had pushed this year’s edition of Miss World where national beauty queens compete for the world crown.
