Rachael Tumwine juggles TV work, farming and business

Rachael Tumwine is a television host at BTM TV, as well as an online business proprietor. She told Nicolas Akasula how she manages her schedule.

My first task of the day is to meet with my producer to review the weekend show. I present a weekly women’s programme called ‘Today’s woman’.
We brainstorm areas of improvement, generate new ideas for the show and prepare all necessary content for the next shooting.

This is the day I shoot my programme. I spend time going through the script before the shoot. I go for the last meeting with my producer for preparation of the next show before I head home in the evening.

This is when I visit the farm. I spend the entire day with people at the farm in Masindi. I do stocktaking, review books of accounts and restock the farm.

I operate an online clothes business and this is when I take orders and do deliveries to clients around town. It’s quite tedious and sometimes, it eats up the entire day.

I am also a minister at church. I have to be at church to supervise and pray with the team. I also do counselling sessions for the congregants.

I prepare special dishes for family and also pay attention to everything at home, including general cleaning.
I also engage with clients online and book appointments with guests for the show.

Sunday morning would supposedly be church, but because of Covid-19, I plan to prepare special meals for family.
I also spend some time resting. Later in the evening, I take nature walks or go for jogging.
