There is an archaic saying that a woman’s place is in the kitchen but seeing as the times have changed, the roles have reversed too. And on Saturday, State Minister for Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi was living proof that men have indeed found their way around the kitchen.
All this happened at the first edition of the Rolex Festival home edition where the minister had a cook off with his wife Veronica Kiwanda at their home in Nansana. The meal being prepared obviously, was the famous rolex.
Making a rolex is not an easy process but few know this because they consume an already finished product from the stalls.
With help from his wife, the minister came up with two rolexes using different recipes.
Their children played host and production crew that judged them and at the end of the day, the minister won the competition because his rolex was very basic unlike the Mrs, who used too many ingredients that eventually killed the originality.
Kiwanda has been referred to as the ‘grandfather’ of the Rolex Festival, so he wanted to show people that he is not just a fan of the event but can prepare it for his family during his free time.
With events still under lockdown, the organisers had to think of a scientific edition.
Enid Mirembe, the proprietor of the festival, said since this is Rolex Festival month, they hope to have at least eight home editions.
