There has been unrest between Bobi Wine and Chameleone’s supporters after the former endorsed Hon Latif Ssebaggala for the Kampala city mayoral race instead of Chameleone who had made his interest for that post known.
In a meeting that happened sometime this week, National Unity Platform decided to move Chameleone to a constituency post and allow Latif Ssebaggala to contest against the incumbent, Erias Lukwago, for the Lord Mayor’s post.
According to information we received, the party wants Chameleone to stand as Member of Parliament for Mityana North constituency, a position he turned down earlier today.
Chameleone, real names Joseph Mayanja, picked mayoral nomination forms as well as a NUP card last month pledging his loyalty to the party.
Now we don’t know how far this is going to go basing on the fact that the Bobi Wine and Chameleone are among the top three biggest artistes in Uganda. This clash is certainly not what either of them wants and it comes at a time when Chameleone has acquired a Land Rover for his mayoral campaigns and opened up his political offices in Mengo, Kafumbe Mukasa Road, with the launch happening next week.
