For years, Alliance de’ Francaise in Kampala together with the French Embassy in Uganda have been at a centre stage of promoting music and alternative arts in Uganda.

Apparently for those who have been following Alliance de’ Francaise will understand that they are partly responsible for talents like Iryn Namubiru, Suzan Kerunen, and Michael Ouma among many.

Giving another boost to the entertainment sector in Uganda, an online radio called Bonjour Kampala, Uganda’s first French speaking radio has been launched.

Earlier in August, the Embassy of France committed €30,000 to support professional French language teaching and learning in Uganda using the media and new technologies via Bonjour Kampala web radio.

Thomas Mbusa the executive Director of Bonjour Kampala explained that the radio will be a big platform for Ugandan Musicians to promote their content beyond borders.

“At no cost, we will be promoting Quality Ugandan Music world over especially in Francophone communities,” he said.

Mbusa explained that there will be an option on the radio’s website for Ugandan’s to submit their music and the playlists will be made available for public to stream.

Speaking on the ceremony at French Embassy in Kampala, the French Ambassador to Uganda Jules-Armand Aniambossou asked artists to utilize the radio not only to promote their content but also study French to open more doors in a growing world.
