Before the lockdown, Ibrahim Mayanja a.k.a Big Eye Starboss had taken a break from performing because it was almost impossible for him to perform on any stage as he was pelted with bottles which he says were always hurled at him by People Power fans because of his divergent views on politics.
On Sunday, Bobi Wine set the pace for his fellow artistes with a well organised online concert dubbed ‘Ensasagge mu Nyumba’. It was widely watched with a viewership of over 28K views on just Facebook. The numbers of the viewers seem to have inspired several other artistes to join the trend.
Among the artitses that were inspired by Bobi Wine’s concert is Big Eye. After the show on Sunday, he took to Facebook and said he was going to hold an online concert and went ahead and asked his fans to suggest a day when it can be staged.
Most of the social media users considered the post as a joke. The singer was however serious as he confirmed yesterday on Spark TV that he is going to stage an online concert for his fans who yearn to watch him perform and those who have continually requested him to do like other fellow artistes.
“Definitely, I am also an artiste so I have announced my online concert as well and I will do it. I am doing this for my fans, who support Big Eye because it’s been a long time since I was last on stage but I now have a chance that I can perform online when everyone is home,” Big Eye said.
He went on to assure social media users that he is the only artiste that will break the 29K viewership record of Bobi Wine’s concert.
“Only me will break that 29k viewers record. Watch the space. #BampitaBigEye’” he posted.
Since the lockdown started, several artistes like Jose Chameleone, Navio, and Kenneth Mugabi among others have held online shows to keep their fans entertained as they obey to government’s guidelines by staying home to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
