The fourth edition of Tugende Mukikade concert is here and according to sprout Africa, one of the organisers, the show will be a tribute to once sensational singer and songwriter Elly Wamala, a legend who died 16 years ago.
The concert will feature other legendary musicians like Kabuye Semboga, Ragga Dee, together with Sara Zawedde, Phoebe Nassolo and Fred Ssebaale, among other musicians. Legendary DJ and Radio presenter Rasta Rob will also feature as the official MC and DJ for the evening.
The late Wamala will be honoured for the contribution he made to Uganda’s music industry in the 1950s to-date which, organisers say, has since inspired talent, morals and Uganda’s music industry over the years.
This was announced at a press conference at Serena Hotel Kampala on Thursday.
Several deceased music legends like Wamala, Philly Bongole Lutaaya, Harman Bassudde, and Paul Kafeero among other artistes still live through their music still being played in private and public spaces or entertainment events.
The concert will, therefore, be aimed at keeping such music and musicians alive.
The concert at the Serena hotel this time brings on more vibes from different sponsors who include Stanbic Bank, Daily Monitor, NTV, and Spark TV among others.
Each reveller will be required to pay only Shs100, 000 to attend.
However, when a reveller purchases any of the tickets using Stanbic bank, it attracts a 20 per cent discount according to the bank’s Senior Marketing Manager Sonia Kasagga.
