This order was passed during a meeting that was held at Entebbe municipal council on Friday with beach owners and managers.
“Entebbe is known to have several places of leisure especially beaches. As a way to prevent the spread of coronavirus, we were asked to close all places where many people converge which is why we have decided to close beaches, churches, open markets including Kitooro market which operates every Tuesday, Nakiwogo market operates on Saturday and central market which also operates on Saturday,” said Entebbe Mayor Mr. Kayanja Vicent Depaul.
“I, therefore, argue Entebbe people to remain vigilant and safe for 32 days as asked by the President for safety purposes,” he added.
The proprietor of White Sand Beach Mr. John Asiimwe says it’s true beaches have been closed and notes that even though the closure of the beach is causing major losses, he admits there is no business without people and therefore argued everyone to abide by the laws so that enjoy the beach when they are healthy.
On Friday, police led by Entebbe Division Police Commander (DPC) Mr. Baker Kawonawo closed Abaita Ababiri open market as the vendors that had come to operate were forced to vacate.
