The annual Nile Special 5-aside football tournament last night made a return for its second edition following a successful start last year that saw the Ugandan ladies emerge African champions.
The event that took place in a simple ceremony at Fast Fusion Sports Arena in Bugolobi with fans of the national premier social football league flocking the venue.
The unique social league that is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, 4th April in Arua and Kabale will this time extend its reach to various new regions to cultivate friendship bonds beyond one’s geographical borders.
The 2020 edition is set to make an even bigger impact across the continent as the tournament will be extended from eight to 16 countries in both the men and women’s division. Furthermore, the tournament will be opened to amateur and professional players.
This showpiece will see two Continental final winning teams, each bag an all-expenses-paid trip to the Serie A classic derby between Inter Milan and AC Milan later this year, hosted by the renowned legend and Africa 5s ambassador Samuel Eto’o.
The launch climaxed with a performance from singer A Pass who thrilled revelers with an epic performance as his dancers kept the crowd’s eyes glued to the stage. He did songs like ‘Chupa Ku Chupa’ that excited the crowd that was sipping on Nile Special, ‘Turn up Da Vibe’ his collaboration with Ykee Benda and ‘Nkwagala’ among others before he called it a night.
