For long, MC Kapale has been criticised alongside his colleague MC Mariach for having ‘obscene’ jokes. The two comedians always seem like they read from the same script and it is perhaps this similarity that created a rivalry between them.
Although the rivalry almost cost MC Kapale, real name Simon Kawuki, his comedy career, he is not about to go down without a fight. Last Thursday, the comedian redeemed himself during the Rock bar comedy and band night.
MC Kapale was the headlining act of the evening and he came on stage singing before kicking off his rib-cracking session that left revellers wondering where he had been.
The break he took was perhaps the thing that did magic for him.
Kapale, who expressed surprise that the large numbers that turned up for the show, said he did not know he was funny enough to attract the large crowd. Earlier on, comedians Bobby Brown and Nilo Nilo together with Mighty Family had graced the stage.
At around 11pm, Positive Band, which is Rock Bar’s resident band, took revellers away with some good tunes. They did things a little differently too, asking revellers who could sing to have a chance to sing as they played. It was an interesting moment as many tried to croak their voices out. This was the time everyone probably appreciated people who put songs together.
They performed songs from all genres but the Lingala and zouk was what got the revellers wild as many got themselves off their seats to take over the stage.
