Maro’s Anjagala Concert at Mestil Hotel in Nsambya was among the many shows that took place yesterday 14th February which also dubs as Valentine’s Day. While some were contemplating on whether to attend Patrick Salvador’s show at Kololo, Rude Boy’s at Cricket Oval or Rema’s at Hotel Africana, others decided to head to Mestil Hotel in Nsambya for Maro’s concert.
Maro drew a big crowd related to the space he had organized for the concert. Revellers started coming in at a slow rate but by 9pm, the crowd was big enough. As more people kept coming in, revellers were treated to DJ mixes from DJ Scofield who kept them entertained from 6pm. As the DJ did his thing, there was no other activity on stage until MC Percy came and announced performances. They were kicked off by Alvin Kizz followed by Vivian Tendo, B2C and Fefe Busi among others.
Maro who brought together different instrumentalists from different music bands opted for a live music experience. He kicked off his performance at exactly 10pm with ‘Free Style’, ‘Rising star’ then ‘Mubi Bubi’ and went on to the songs he did way back explaining the meaning of each song.
The performed for over an hour before he took a break leaving the stage for Geosteady who did two songs and left the stage for Andrea Baguma who left the crowd chanting” we want more”. Shyne from German and John Blaq also performed during the break before Maro returned for the second session.
During the he did songs like ‘Kyokoba’ where he introduced long lost hip-hop artiste Rocky Giant to the stage to do the song with him something that excited the crowd since he was a surprise performer. He went on to do ‘Nsiima’ a collaboration with Rema off his 89 Good Decisions album, Biweewo, Omuwesi, and Nziranago among others.
The singer who broke the midnight rules performed until 1am. He concluded his perfomace with the title song ‘Anjagala‘ which got everyone on their feet. Maro performed the twice before calling it a night.
