At 35, this is what engineer Salvado has achieved in comedy world

Arguably Uganda’s funniest man, award-winning comedian Patrick Idringi popularly known as Salvado is set to take Ugandans on a rib-cracking fest dubbed ‘Africa Laughs’ come February 14, 2020 at Kololo Airstrip. But beyond the show, Salvado will be celebrating 10 years in the comedy game as well as celebrating his 35th birthday.

Salvado traded his engineering career for stand-up comedy ten years ago and the results are remarkable although getting there has not been a bed of roses, as he says.

Addressing journalists at a press conference at Speke Apartments to announce his 10th show, the much sought-after comedian revealed that comedy has changed his life and helped him grow as a person.

“It hasn’t been easy but God and so many people have been on my side and enabled me to grow. Look at the people I deal with now. The sponsors who invest in my shows. I will be sleeping at the Speke Apartments for a week before I go back to the default settings of Kyaliwajala. Singleton, Fenon Records. Mehhn this is unbelievable,” he said.

First held in 2013, Africa Laughs will this year be running its fifth lap and to celebrate the milestone, Salvado will be joined by international comedy giants like Kenny Blaq, Eric Omondi, Eddie Kadi and Alfred Kaingo in addition to our own crème de la crème, such as Daniel Omara, Prince Emma, Ronnie Mc Vex, Agnes Akite and Madrat & Chiko.

Salvador’s blend of laugh-out-loud humour and attention to ridiculous details while narrating stories has earned him a widespread following across Africa and beyond, making the laugh fiesta the most-anticipated comedy show of the year.
