PICTORIAL: New year eve left Ugandans yearning for more parte

New Year’s Eve is one of the largest global celebrations because it marks the last day of the year. December 31, 2019, was a special day world over because it marked the end of a decade. In Kampala, thousands celebrated with their families at different hotels within the city. 

Prominent artists staged ecstatic performances at Pearl of Africa Hotel Nakasero, Kampala Serena Hotel, Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Speak Resort Munyonyo, the Lubiri among other places.

Apart from artists and their new songs, fireworks and drinks also increased on people’s happiness while ushering in the New Year 2020 at Nakasero and other places.

At Pearl of Africa, Kampala Serena and Sheraton Hotel, the decade was crowned with fireworks when the clock struck midnight.

“It has been a great night because we have seen it all as far as Entertainment, drinks, security and fireworks are concerned. The artists that were selected to perform have been the best, they have really made accountability for our money,” Brenda Nakito a reveller who spent her night at Pearl of Africa said.

The performances at Nakasero started at 11:00 pm with Vinka, followed by an Ethiopian Artist, Sheebah at midnight and John Blaq closed the show after the fireworks as people continued to enjoy the new year.

Security was on alert in Kampala and around all the other places where Ugandans celebrated from.

Chairman of Pearl of Africa Hotel Mohammad Ahmadi said it has been a wonderful night and said Hotel is here to serve the nation and guests and wished all Ugandans a fruitful 2020.

Congolese music legend Kanda Bongo Man crowned the night for thousands of revellers at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel Gardens. 

His electrifying performance followed several curtain-raisers who were local artists including Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo, among others.

At the Lubiri, despite the deportation of Yvonne Chaka Chaka who was supposed to be the headlining artist, revellers partied like business as usual to welcome the new year 2020.
